The practice, he said, was currently considering taking over the lease of Trevitt House and expanding the services and asked that a letter be written to the PCT supporting the doctors' position in the village, a suggestion backed by the council. Members of the public asked if any decision had been reached over the gating of public footpath number seven and were told that the parish council had withdrawn its objection and that work would go ahead. Among items for discussed in the public participation session was the gating of public footpath number 7, between Pinfold Lane and Broadholes Lane, Wheaton Aston. The parish council was asked about progress in setting up a satellite station for the police, but as the local police officer is on secondment, nothing has taken place yet. It was reported that a SID (a device which calculates vehicles' speeds) is being set up in June at Stretton near the Bell pub for a two-month period. Councillors also heard that the footpath in Broadholes Lane is being replaced and work will take 3-4 weeks. When complete, the footpath in Fentonhouse Lane will then be replaced and again, work will take 3 -4 weeks. The bad state of footpaths in Stretton are being reported to the county highways. During the discussion about public footpath number 7, it was reported that no details about the gating being used had been received from Staffordshire County Council, even though these had been requested. The council expressed its disappointment because the county had asked for a decision at the April meeting.
